Prevnar 20, a conjugate polysaccharide vaccine, is administered in adults as just one dose into the arm.
In adults, it is used to help prevent diseases such
as pneumonia, bacteremic pneumonia, sepsis and meningitis caused by 20 types of the bacteria 
Streptococcus pneumoniae. 

How does it work? 

Vaccines teach our bodies to recognize and respond to viruses and bacteria, by making products called antibodies that help fight the disease. Our immune system can remember and fight them if they attack in the future. 

Prevnar 20 helps your body make its own antibodies to help protect you against 20 types of the bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae.

What does it cover? 

Prevnar 20 provides protection you against 20 types of the bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae.
It is indicated for the prevention of pneumonia and invasive pneumococcal disease caused by
serotypes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 8, 9V, 10A, 11A, 12F, 14, 15B, 18C, 19A, 19F, 22F, 23F, and 33F.

Prevnar 20 should not be mistaken for Prevnar 13 because they are not the same vaccine.

Prevnar 13 provides protection against 13 types of the bacteria Streptococcus pneumoniae.
It is indicated for the prevention of pneumonia and invasive pneumococcal disease caused by
serotypes 1, 3, 4, 5, 6A, 6B, 7F, 9V, 14, 18C, 19A, 19F, and 23F. As with any vaccine, Prevnar 13 will not
protect 100% of those who receive the vaccine.
